I was called by a customer who asked if I could replace his automatic transmission on his 1966 Jaguar mk2.
He already had a replacement gearbox shipped from a breaker in Scotland. The original transmission was a shot.
Then a discovery was made where the starter ring was held on by one bad weld to the torque converter. Even that weld was ugly as shown in photo! The three other welds had broken away. Amazed how the thing never came apart.
Car is now fixed up and back on the road. It took a day longer than expected, but as with classics you can’t always put a time on them.
